We make use of imported technology like the windscreen repair system of CLEAR STAR (USA) and ESPRIT (UK) to increase our efficiency and to maintain our competitiveness in the Automotive Glass industry.

We also have our own windscreen repair system product, KLASWELD, which is a windscreen repair system that can penetrate the glass surface through the pit of the break with a transparent liquid resin. This will then protect the broken areas and substantially restore visibility to the repaired area.

The Different Types of Windshield Cracks and Chips

Windshield cracks can vary in type and severity. Let’s explore some common types:

Cracks: These surface damages occur due to extreme temperatures, bad weather, and road debris. In Queensland, it’s illegal to drive with major cracks in the windshield, especially if they hinder safe maneuvering of the car. Cracks can take on various forms:

• Stress Cracks: Caused by sudden and extreme temperature changes without external force or pressure. These cracks may start at the edge of the windshield and can be challenging to repair.
• Edge Cracks: Often caused by exposure to excessive heat. They typically occur when the edges of the windscreen warm up due to surrounding materials while the middle remains slightly colder. Edge cracks can grow significantly large and may affect the seal of the windscreen.
• Floater Cracks: Similar in size and severity to edge cracks, these begin in the middle of the windscreen, away from the edges.

Chip Cracks: These are smaller damages caused by impacts from stones, debris, or hailstones. Common types include:

• Crack Chip: Quarter-sized chips.
• Edge Crack: Starts within two inches of the windscreen edge and extends to the side of the glass.
• Floater Crack: Forms in the middle of the windscreen.
• Long Crack: More than six inches in length.

Other Types: Here are a few additional windshield crack types:

• Partial Bulls-Eye: Similar to a half-moon shape.
• Pit: An area where a small piece of glass is missing.
• Star Break: A series of short radial cracks resembling a star.
• Stone Break: A small chip caused by a stone or other hard object hitting the windscreen.
